Originally from Kansas in the United States of America, Chick arrived in Peebles after a mix-up with immigration officials at Edinburgh Airport, and has been with us ever since. Chick brings his unique outsider’s perspective to his reporting of everyday life here in Scotland.
Who can forget his enthusiastic reporting of the annual Forsyth’s Christmas Turkey Queue in 1946 as it stretched far out on to the Edinburgh Road towards Eddleston?
And Chick did his bit for the environment just a few years ago, driving his 4x4 around the Scottish countryside in search of a truly sustainable Christmas tree for his sitting room.

Jeez! I mean there I was in Sainsbury’s. I waited for 20 minutes to get in just like all the other good citizens of my adopted Scottish Borders town. I’m trying to figure out tonight’s menu in the cold meats isle when this overwhelming desire to have a pee comes over me. I mean I can’t control it. My back teeth were floating.
